INCLUDES The Big 3 to Prevent Dementia

When you join my Brain Alive with Music Program, you stay physically active, mentally active and socially active.
The Program is especially designed for you to experience the joy of learning to read music and play music with like-minded friends.
Each small group is limited to one of each instrument.
Even though you are beginning or you’ve been playing for a few years, the music you will learn to play in the group is carefully chosen for an appropriate level of challenge for each person in the Quartet. At the same time, the group will be accompanied so it sounds great, and feels good and is satisfying. The music sounding good and feeling good is a priority. If you only love to play one style of music, this may not be for you because we will be eclectic in our musical taste. Everything from classical music to romantic to impressionist to jazz improvisation to jazz standards to folk to ambient to The Beatles or Max Richter. Variety is important to keep it interesting!
You will receive all your musical nutrients.
Pamela is an experienced music educator and a certified life coach with The Brave Thinking Institute who is known for her kindness, compassion and gentle manner. She will guide you forward each step of the way. Whether it’s to commiserate or to congratulate, she is right there with you cheering you on.
We stay active during the weekly sessions. Woven into each week’s session is time for a chat and to go for a walk to take a break. It is a quiet and leafy lovely suburb here with plenty of fresh air. We will have phases of rigour where you challenge yourself to do more and be more, balanced with rest.
It’s social too. As we walk on the breaks, we chat and get to know each other. We perform for friends and family. At the end of each year we create magic and celebrate our growth in a public Concert.
It’s all about helping us to stay with-it and fabulous while we have fun!
What participants of the Program say
“I felt, after spending quite a bit of time playing alone, much more inspired to play well. I find myself more focused and confident as a musician. I don’t feel as isolated from other musicians and ‘the music world’ and I am more determined to improve my playing.” Mike Cowdroy, Graphic Designer, Mike’s Art Solutions
“Work/life balance is being achieved for the first time in years! Playing the flute again after such a long gap has been amazing. I feel empowered.” Marcia Ross, HR Consultant and Mother
“Feedback from the family is that I’m less stressed since being involved in the group. I’m more confident of myself as a ‘musician’. The additional musical confidence flows over into other aspects of work and home. I’ve made some great new friends. My music playing has become more focused, I practice more, and I research, study and experiment in areas of music that I have not before. Knock on effects for lifestyle is significant. Music is a great hobby to focus on. It’s a great way to unwind after a hectic day in the corporate jungle, and it keeps you away from other ‘hobbies’ that are less beneficial.” Dominic McKenzie, IT Manager, Barclays Global Ltd.
“I have enjoyed the feeling of being part of a team. It was good to have a reason to practice together at home. Pamela is very patient, calm and accepting. I feel motivated to practise and really look forward to learning more and improving. You bet I’ll be continuing on! Oh, and thank you for a magical concert experience” Suzanne Rix, Executive Coach and author of ‘Superworking’.
“Learning music with Pamela has been a most satisfying experience. Pamela’s technical ability, combined with her knowledge and understanding in other areas of teaching has inspired a passion for learning, playing and experiencing music in a way that I have not experienced before. Her patience, and understanding of the human experience has made possible a creative learning environment, where the material presented has provided the opportunity to explore the relationship between music and other areas of the arts, in a way that has enriched the musical experience. I would happily recommend Pamela to anyone wanting to widen his or her musical horizons.” Paul Parfenow, Project Manager, Australand.
“We formed unique friendships, made a commitment to ourselves and developed discipline. On the night of the concert we were polished and our presentation was paramount. We presented on the night as true professionals. The best part was sitting meditating and focussing. The concert happened (might not be perfect, but we did it!) We made mistakes, but we did it, we pulled it off. You can’t take that away from anyone. You can’t put a price on that! I went out and bought a new flute. It was a gift for the first time in a long while. I bought myself a real gift and it was because of the concert. How can you put into words the meaning of what you are doing? What it means to me, that I’m being taught by Pamela to listen to my inner voice, to feel the music, to trust my instincts.” Marcia Ross, HR Consultant and Mother.
“Thank you for inspiring me to play again.” Hideko Izumi, Mother
“This is what I’ve been hoping for” L.B.
